The previous summer, George and Madison had taken a road trip to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. While exploring, they stumbled upon a park overlooking the ocean, with a bench perfectly situated to take in the view. They spent hours there, talking about their future. At one point, George jokingly said he’d marry Madison right then and there if he had a ring.

Fast forward a year, George proposed during a family vacation to New Hampshire. Madison had often hinted that she wanted to be surrounded by family to celebrate such a special moment, and George knew just the place to make it happen.
